A Black Rock and a Lighthouse
Just outside of Gold Coast is the Fingal Head lighthouse. It’s positioned atop the most incredible-looking basalt rock that juts out into the ocean. The rock is black with jagged edges and looks like something right out of Game of Thrones. It’s dotted with really pretty pandanus trees and the wind was blowing so hard, while we were there, I I felt like I was flying. We watched dolphins swimming past and ventured down to Dreamtime Beach below the lighthouse. It was really spectacular.
Burleigh Heads National Park
There’s a really cool park called Burleigh Heads where it seems everyone is hanging out. There are grassy areas to lie in and hiking trails to explore. And Burleigh Heads beach is right at the bottom so you can catch some great views while hiking down and then cool off with a dip in the ocean.
