We're Gonna Live Here One Day
This is another one of those towns where we instantly fell in love. We saw our first Kangaroo hopping along the side of a mountain at the lighthouse. We had a blast finding out how deceptively large downtown Byron Bay actually is. We watched surfers practicing at Wategos Beach. We enjoyed a cold drink and people-watched at Byron Beach. It really was an all-around amazing experience.
Cape Byron Lighthouse
The Cape Byron Lighthouse is really cute and has incredible views. Tragically, Australia was experiencing devastating fires while we were visiting. The evidence of those fires was apparent in the form of thick smoke for miles and miles which inhibited our views but we could still see how incredible the beaches and rocky cliffs look, regardless. If you visit this lighthouse, definitely make time to walk the entire Cap Byron Lighthouse Trail which winds from the lighthouse down to the coast and along some great beaches then back to the lighthouse. It’s definitely worth the effort.
