Top 10 Things to Do in Mallorca

Many of our Top 10 Lists can be difficult to create, because there aren’t always enough amazing things to see in every city. When it came to creating our Top 10 Things to Do in Mallorca list it was almost impossible to only choose 10.

What makes Mallorca so incredible is hard to describe in words. We hope that the pictures below will help you see just how special this Spanish island is. And remember that this is just our Top 10 Things to Do. There are easily another 10 top tier things to see and do in Mallorca. This list isn’t in any kind of order.

1. Cala Molins Beach

Cala Molins Beach
Any list of things to do in Mallorca has to start with one of their many impressive beaches. Cala Molins was the first beach we visited after arriving in Mallorca and it was probably our favorite. No other beach on the island really captures what Mallorca is all about. Cliffs line the sides of the beach and if you walk right around the corner up a small hill there’s another stunning beach.

Spend some time laying out or walk along the path for some incredible views of the two beaches and you can easily spend an entire day at Cala Molins.

2. Cap De Formentor

Cap de Formentor Mallorca
If there’s one thing to see in Mallorca this is it. If you’re going to check out the Cap de Formentor then make sure you stop at the Mirador es Colomer Formentor along the way for an equally impressive view. Out of all the places we’ve been these views might be the most impressive.
Bright blue waters contrast beautifully with the rocky mountains setting up for some top tier photos. Set aside a few hours for these 2 views, because trust us you won’t want to leave. We would also highly recommend visiting before and during sunset. Watching the sun creep down behind the seemingly endless layers of mountains is a sight to behold and one you’ll never forget.

3. Port de pollenca pine walk

Port de Pollenca is a great beach town to visit while in Mallorca. Our favorite part was the Pine Walk, which is a walking path or boardwalk along the water. It’s lined with shops and restaurants, but remains peaceful throughout the day. It’s a perfect place for a morning stroll to find a coffee and watch the calm clear sea. At night this area stays busy with great restaurants and gelaterias, but it never feels crowded or loud.

4. visit palma

So you’re on this incredible Spanish Island and you decide to go into town, but it’s probably nothing special right? WRONG! Palma is a world class city filled with beautiful architecture, top notch restaurants, stunning cathedrals and is surrounded by some of Mallorca’s best beaches.
We had no idea Palma would be just as exceptional as larger cities like Barcelona or Valencia, but it really was. If you’re looking for a day away from the beaches then Palma should absolutely be at the top of your list for things to do in Mallorca. Make sure you check out La Llotja, The Cathedral La Seu and our favorite restaurant in town Bagel.

5. old town alcudia

Alcudia
We chose the Alcudia area for our Airbnb due to the close proximity to great beaches and the northern mountains, but we found it has even more to offer. Old town Alcudia is a little gem of a no cars allowed historic medieval town. Alcudia was destroyed in the 6th century, but what you see now was built in the early 14th Century. It’s just a great place to explore whether you’re looking for a place to eat or just browsing the shops. Don’t miss the Tuesday and Sunday markets if you’re looking for some local handmade crafts and fresh produce.

6. Drive the serra de tramuntana

Serra de Tramuntana
Josh was so excited for this day and it was even better than he thought it would be. Driving the Serra de Tramuntana is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed. In fact out of this entire list of the top things to do in Mallorca this is the day you’ll never forget.
Serra de Tramuntana
Although maybe not once in a lifetime, because rest assured we will be back for this epic drive. Here’s the path with the highlights for your drive:
Start in Andratx
Visit the town of Estellencs – Amazing mountain town with fresh produce markets
Torre del Verger – Small watchtower with incredible views
Visit Valldemossa – Another great mountain town
Deia – Another beautiful mountain town with paths to the water
Soller – A larger town that’s a perfect place to stop for lunch
Sa Calobra Beach and Canyon de la Calobra – Highlight of the day, try to get here hours before sunset, so you have plenty of time to enjoy.
Canyon de la Calobra
The roads themselves along the drive are world class. Josh could just drive this every day and be thrilled.
Serra de Tramuntana
For the rest of us it’s all about the quaint mountain towns, stunning views and Canyon de la Calobra. Start early and we guarantee this is a full day of driving that you’ll cherish forever.

7. cala gat

Cala Gat Mallorca
Just look at that water, seriously it looks like that in person. Cala Gat located on the eastern shore of Mallorca is the type of beach you see on postcards. It’s easy to get to and a dream of a beach to spend your day getting some sun, swimming or walking along the beautiful path to the south along the water. We even got this awesome picture of a cat walking with us on the path.

8. cueva de arta

Cueva de Arta Mallorca
I don’t know what was more impressive, this incredible cave or our guide who spoke 8 languages fluently. But seriously, the Cueva de Arta is an impressive network of stalactite and stalagmite filled caves. The soot blackened stones are even visible today from a 13th century battle where the Mallorcan army tried to smoke out the Moorish soldiers.
This is a perfect activity for kids and adults alike and should be a go to activity if the weather isn’t on your side.

9. Santuari de Sant Salvador

This old monastery is set upon a massive hilltop and offers some amazing views of Mallorca. The Santuari de Sant Salvador dates back to 1348 and the giant cross sculpture was added in 1934.

It’s a quick drive to the top and a popular road for cyclists due to the switchback road design and incredible viewpoint reward once you reach the summit.

10. cala llombards

Ok you’re probably getting sick of the beaches by now, but there are literally hundreds of stunning beaches on the island of Mallorca. Cala Llombards is another of our favorites. Each beach on this list is loved by us for different reasons. Cala Llombards is privately nestled between short cliffs topped with tropical green trees. It’s as picturesque as any other beach on this list and one you must visit.

So that’s all for our Top 10 Things to Do in Mallorca! But there’s so much more to see and do while visiting this amazing island. Let us know if you have any questions in the comment section below.

Flight

Skyscanner is our go to site for finding the best flights based on prices, dates, times and flight length. It’s incredibly intuitive playing around with all of the airports and dates to find the best deal.

Accommodation

What would we do without Airbnb? Honestly, there are so many places we’ve been that just wouldn’t be affordable for us without Airbnb. In cities like San Francisco you’ll pay around half of what you’d pay for a comparable hotel. We can’t recommend Airbnb highly enough for your next trip.

There are a ton of great hotel/motel sites out there, but we almost always find ourselves booking our next hotel through Booking.com. The site is very user friendly and they often have more properties like small local motels than the bigger sites.

Travel Insurance

Whether you’re concerned about flight issues, medical emergencies or stolen luggage World Nomads has your back. We’ve used them for many of our trips and highly recommend their trip insurance for anyone looking for that extra level of protection. The rates are very affordable and you’ll know that you’re totally covered.
